The competition is organized by TIME and the American Society of Media Photographers.

Over 2,200 photos were submitted to the competition with winners from 9 countries, including Poland, Bangladesh and Iran. The awarded photographs, with comments by their authors, present the complexity of human existence, which manifests itself in various areas: climate change, sense of gender identity, loss and love. The title of the photographic series in the Series category of our student Grzegorz Piotrowski is "The Sisters Of The Hills", which the author explains as follows:

"Barbara and Natalia are sisters from Poland living in the small village of Przybówka. Their immediate family is not just mom and dad. These are also (and perhaps above all) horses, sheep, goats, cows, pigs, chickens, geese, dogs, cats, and alpacas. Every animal has a name. Each of them is important. Each is part of the family. Each loved. They live in harmony with nature and what surrounds them".
