For over a dozen years, the ŻUBROFFKA International Short Film Festival has been building a culture bridge between the East and the West, North and South thanks to which creative energy from all over the world meets in Białystok and Podlasie. The festival, which has evolved from a small, intimate event to the largest film event in north-eastern Poland, is an open and borderless event that respects difference and diversity, and is a meeting place for open-minded filmmakers with a sense of humour and those who value nature and its creations. We fully support this idea and are happy to be part of this event.

Competition Festival selectors watched and analyzed almost 1,300 submitted entries from all over the world (including Mexico, Kyrgyzstan, Taiwan, Jordan, Armenia, Singapore, Cameroon, Columbia, Palestine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Israel, Montenegro , Qatar, Finland, New Zealand, Micronesia, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Egypt, South Africa) to select 140 films from among them that will compete for the awards of the 17th edition of the ŻUBROFFKA International Short Film Festival. The Festival awards to be won include: the Grand Prix of the festival and prizes in Polish competitions (Fabuła.pl, Animacja.pl, Dokument.pl), international competitions (Eastward Window, Whole Wide World) and competitions open to all filmmakers (Kids, Youth, Music video , On the Edge and Midnight Shorts).

During the Festival, special prizes will also be awarded for the Best Animated Film, Documentary, Fiction Film, Cinematography and Music. The prizes will be awarded by a jury of Polish and foreign journalists, as well as a Youth Jury representing the voices of pupils and students. Moreover, the festival audience will choose the film which will receive the Wild Bison, i.e., the Audience Award! We’re keeping fingers crossed for our students and graduates!
