Julia Orlik's animated short film I’M HERE, which was awarded many times at international festival, has been appreciated again. The Captivating Film Festival rewards our graduates!
The jury, consisting of: Wojciech Kuska - chairman, Diana Dąbrowska, Iwona Bartnicka, having watched 16 films in competition, stated that the level of this year's edition was high and an interesting dialogue was established between the films. The competing films created a film tenement house allowing viewers to observe individual characters and their lives through the windows. Various films with a message, rooted in reality, were submitted, and what is truly intriguing is that the filmmakers sensed that what is rooted in everyday life could be intriguing. The films created a kaleidoscope of the contemporary world and unfolded it often in unexpected ways.
Taking into account the formal aspect, screenplays and the element of captivating the audience, the Jury decided to award:
“FRAPY” in the category of FORM as well as financial prizes in the amount of PLN 1,400 ex aequo to the films:
I'M HERE, dir. Julia Orlik (animation and special effects graduate)
Jury justification statement: for a coherent vision of death which, despite asceticism and great formal consistency, does not lose the heroine even when her bed remains empty. For opening the space beyond the frame, which makes us more sensitive, allows us to see more broadly and stimulates reflection.
AIRBORNE, dir. Andrzej Jobczyk (animation and special effects graduate), prod. Letko
Jury justification statement: for an unconventional approach to the subject of war, a visual presentation of what animated pacifism might look like and how beautiful a world in which bombs turn into flowers would look. The film makes us realize how much we need "Apocalypse Now" in reverse.
“FRAPĄ” in the category of FICTION/HISTORY as well as a financial prize in the amount of PLN 1,400 to the film:
CZŁOWIEK Z OPADAJĄCYM UCHEM, dir. Jędrzej Kocjan (film and TV production organization gradaute)
Jury justification statement: for an extremely current, grotesque, bitter commentary on society and violent practices in cyberspace - all this with the deliberate use of documentary techniques. For a conscious narrative that touches the present and is aware of its message and teaches you to watch and listen.
The audience of the Festival honoured the film I’M HERE with the Audience FRAPA Award directed by Julia Orlik. The director received a statuette and a cash prize of PLN 1,600.
