" Łódź is the place where I live. And when you live in one place and are a photographer, you take photos of that place at different times and at different moments in your life. I took my first photo of Łódź when I was still in primary school, in 1967. As a boy, I would go to the city with my camera, looking for places that spoke of its former splendour: old factories, villas, palaces that were then falling into ruin. Later, as a professional photographer, I still took photos of Łódź, but casually, while running from one assignment to another. I went everywhere with my camera. Even when I went to the market to buy tomatoes, I took my camera. It was a Canon A1," says Andrzej Wrzesień.

Andrzej Wrzesień is a graduate of the Cinematography Department at the Lodz Film School, where he has been teaching since 1982. Author of many photographic exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including 45 individual exhibitions. Since 2000, artistic director of the "Tendencje.pl" magazine. Winner of numerous awards for his photographic and publishing activities, including Izadora 2002, Złota Nitka 2003, Acanthus Aureus 2004. In the years 1980-2018, he specialized in fashion photography for the largest Polish companies and magazines. In the 1980s, he cooperated with theatres, for which he took photos for set design and portraits of actors. Lives and works in Łódź.
