We invite you to the Festival from 12 to 15, October, at the Film School premises in the beautiful golden and chestnutty brown surroundings of the school campus at this time of the year.
The 14th Camera Action Festival, which is traditionally based on discussions with film professionals, is about to start. During this year's edition, viewers will meet, among others: Hollywood screenwriters Jerzy Kromolowski and Mary Olson-Kromolowska; the director of "The Green Border" Agnieszka Holland and Kamila Urzędowska and Sean Bobbitt - creators of the Polish Oscar candidate "The Peasants".
You can choose from as many as 85 screenings, including pre-premiere shows, from Cannes, Toronto and Berlinale, such as "The Old Oak" by Ken Loach, "Club Zero" by Jessica Hausner, "Monster" by Hirokazu Kore-eda, "Passages" by Ira Sachs, "When It Melts” by Veerle Baetens. The four-day event (October 12-15) takes place at the Film School in Łódź, the Film Museum and Monopolis.

The film "The Green Border" was controversial even before its premiere. Agnieszka Holland herself will talk about making the film and its international reception during her meeting with the audience after the film screening on October 13 (Friday) at 11:30. She will be accompanied by Marcin Wierzchosławski who will talk about the shoot from the perspective of a producer and reveal what it was like to shoot the film with the participation of an international team.
* Unique discussions about cinema
The essence of the Camera Action Festival is the discussions with film professionals to get to know their opinions and find out about their experience and most important aspects of their work in film industry. This year, one of the topics of discussions will concern the changes that are taking place in the world of cinema. One of those taking part in these discussions will be Anna Wróblewska, a lecturer at our school, who will talk about the screenwriters' and actors' strike and its impact on the situation of filmmakers around the world. The discussion “The strikewill take place on 13 October (Friday) at 3 p.m.
* Diploma films of the Acting Department students on the screen of Camera Action Festival
This is the first edition of the festival, during which two diploma films created at our school will be presented. Shown exclusively online, "Different Paths to Holiness" (Thursday, 19, October, 9 p.m. on the Think Film platform) with Irmina Liszkowska, Jan Napieralski and Julia Szczepańska consists of several stories about young people seeking spiritual experiences. Aniela Gabryel's film can be perceived as the voice of a generation trying to express itself. The other one is the film "The Clowns" (15, October, 12:15 p.m.) which portrays students preparing for an important show. The film’s director is our acting graduate and lecturer, Gabriela Muskała, for whom the film is her directing debut. After the screening, there will be a meeting with the actors and producers of the film, which will be an opportunity to discuss work on the diploma film and the difficult job of an actor.

The Camera Action Festival is a space for people for whom cinema is a passion. The organisers have thought of another treat for cinema lovers: the guest of the meeting after the screening of the film "Past Lives" (13 October, 7:45 p.m.) will be a valued film critic and former artistic director of the Gdynia Film Festival, Michał Oleszczyk, who has been running a famous podcast SpoilerMaster for several years. One of its episodes will be recorded with the participation of the festival audience, with whom the critic will talk about the Celine Song film which they will have just watched. „Poprzednie życie”
*Education Campaign: an academic flavour of passion for cinema
Reliable knowledge of film, breaking down films into prime factors and analyzing them frame by frame is the basis of the Education Campaign, during which there will be no shortage of people associated with the Film School. A special event will be screenings of video essays created in the vnLab studio, which will complement a meeting with Stanisław Liguziński and Michał Matuszewski (head of the Film Essay Studio at the Lodz Film School vnLab), that will take place on 13, October at 5 p.m. In addition, viewers will have the chance to watch "Solaris Mon Amour" by Kuba Mikurda (directing lecturer at our School). After the screening (14 October, 1:00 p.m.), there will be a discussion with the filmmakers. They will talk about the creation of this unique production, which consists of fragments of short films from the archives of the Educational Films Studio. This experience will be complemented by screenings of source materials, i.e., short films made by the Studio (WFO) in the era of the Polish People's Republic.
