We invite you for a tour FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF OSCAR WINNERS AND NOMINEES, and an important point on it - the Lodz Film School.

The inauguration of the new Łódź Film City Trail will take place on Sunday, June 25, at 11:00.

What traces have the great creators of Polish cinema, Oscar nominees and winners, left behind in Łódź? You can discover the film history of the city by walking along the unique paths of Łódź. The Lodz Film School is one of the key points on the trail and on this occasion a commemorative plaque was hung on its walls.

Lodz, the UNESCO City of Film Trail is an offer for Lodz residents and tourists, cinema lovers, but also for all those who would like to learn about the lesser-known history of the city and visit places where scenes for unique films were shot. The trail allows you to discover the film heritage of Łódź - a city belonging to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of film.

The first path is called "Oscar Łódź", which was opened last year. It leads you through the filming locations of films honoured with or nominated for the American Film Academy Awards. There are ten unique places along the route of the tour starting from the tenement house where Ida's aunt - Wanda Gruz lived, up to Staromiejski Park, where the scenes of the Oscar-nominated film "In Darkness" by Agnieszka Holland took place. On the way, it is worth visiting the Museum of the City of Łódź and seeing the original Oscar statuette, awarded to the creators of the documentary film "Artur Rubinstein - l'amour de la vie”.

The second tour prepared as part of the Trail is the path entitled FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE OSCAR-WINNING CREATORS. Its inauguration will take place on June 25. This time, the walk will follow the trail of recognized filmmakers, Oscar nominees and winners. The first point will be the Lodz Film School at Targowa Street, i.e. a place that has educated generations of outstanding artists in the field of film over the decades of its activity. The tour will end in the former Feature Film Studio at Łąkowa Street, which for nearly half a century was the largest film centre in the country. Artists whose achievements can be found on the Oscar Trail include: Andrzej Wajda, Paweł Pawlikowski, Krzysztof Kieślowski and Allan Starski.

You can go on a tour using the EC1 offer. From June to the end of September, there will be organized walks with guides who will lead participants through the entire route: from the assembly point at the EC1 ticket offices to the last point of the walk. On the project website lodzcityoffilm.com you can check the schedule of this year's walks. Tickets are available online at ec1lodz.pl and at EC1 ticket offices. A printed map can also be obtained from each of the partners.

A real treat for lovers of film and cinema history is also an audio guide by Michał Oleszczyk, which is a sound supplement to both paths of the Trail. The author known from the Spoiler Master project takes listeners on a journey following in the footsteps of recognized filmmakers and the most famous locations in Łódź, and takes the audience into the unique world of cinema, to which we have no access on a daily basis.

The description of the walk can be found at the link: lodzcityoffilm.com/szlak_miasta_filmu/spacery

Tickets can be purchased at EC1 ticket offices or on the institution's website: bilety.ec1lodz.pl

The guided tours start from the entrance to the EC1 Science and Technology Centre.

The project was initiated by the Łódź City Council. It is implemented by EC1 Łódź - City of Culture/Łódź Film Commission in cooperation with the National Centre for Film Culture, the Lodz Film School, the Museum of Film in Łódź, the Łódź Tourist Organization and the Jan Czeraszkiewicz Łódź Branch of PTTK.

* Łódź joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network on 31, October, 2017. The title of the City of Film confirmed the recognition that Łódź enjoys as a film centre and the film potential that has distinguished the city for decades. Accession to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network also confirmed the validity of the path of sustainable development adopted by Łódź, based on creativity and innovation.
