Four Thrilling Awards for our students and one for our graduate - this is the result with which we close this year's edition of the Thrilling Films Festival.

The 11th Thrilling Films Festival was held in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland, from 21 to 23, October 2022

The festival jury was composed of:
Wojciech Kuska (chairman),
Diana Dąbrowska,
Iwona Bartnicka.

Having watched 19 competition films from a variety of filmmakers and film forms, they stated that the level of this year's festival was high and the film selection interesting, which is also reflected in the verdict.

At the same time, the jury emphasized that the idea of "the thrilling" makes you aware of a film's unpredictability, which shows that what is subdued and poetic, and pushes us up to the sky or holds us down to the earth can also be intriguing. This year's Thrilling Awards (Thrills) also reflect an interesting tale about us today. The jury admitted that “Thrills” are simply necessary for us to be happy!

Among the winners there are our students’ films and one directed by our graduate:

The THRILL in the FORM category:

BIG PHAT PARTY, dir. Kinga Pudełek

Jury statement: for the pulsating on-screen melange of images and sounds, the energy that complements the picture of a certain generation, but also emphasizes the universality of problems, the beautiful ugliness and the ugliness of beauty, as well as ... a beach inside the flat.

The THRILLS in the FICTION/STORY category:

THE DEVIL, dir. Jan Bujnowski

Jury statement: for the relevance of the presented story nowadays, despite the chosen time context, for the time beyond time, for entering into cultural conversations about the fact that the devil in various forms has always accompanied man and for making people aware that we need metaphysics in our everyday life.

EASTERN ROMANCE, dir. Anna Jasińska

Jury statement: for a romantic ballad, which - as befits a real fairy tale - does not shy away from horror, darkness and ferocity, and for a story with an extremely up-to-date warning in the background, closed in a short format.

The THRILLS in the HERO category:

A DEAD MARRIAGE, dir. Michał Toczek

Jury statement: for a simple image of a hero with emotional depth. For creating a sensitive life narrator who metaphorically rises from the dead and teaches us how to break the surrounding numbness, and also reminds us of the need for closeness.

EAGLE-MAN dir. Kamil Krukowski (graduate of the Film and TV Directing Dept.)
Jury statement: for creating a hero who rises above the levels of ordinary and mediocrity, and for whom we would eagerly look on the horizon of everyday life, as well as join him on a "social flight" across the skies.

Congratulations to all the winners!
