The film BREAD AND SALT directed by our PhD student, Damian Kocur, and the film A MAN by our direction graduate Kei Ishikawa, will be screened at the Orizzonti Section of the IFF in Venice.
The 79th La Biennale International Film Festival in Venice takes place from 31 August to 10 September, 2022.

The Venice Film Festival is one of the most important festivals in the world, entered on the prestigious list of the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) and one of the oldest film events in the world.
BREAD AND SALT, dir. Damian Kocur
The pianist Tymek, a student of the Warsaw Academy of Music, returns to his hometown for summer holidays. The provincial town, like many others in Poland, is a place where time has stood still, especially now during hot holidays. Tymek's friends as well as his brother Jacek, also a pianist who, however, did not get in the Academy of Music, stayed in the town. They hang around in the district. The central meeting point for local youth is the newly established kebab bar. Local youth get on with foreigners who run it but there are some minor exceptions. Over time, the conflict between the bar staff and the boys arises.

Attorney Kido receives a strange request from Rie, a former client. She wants him to do a background check on her late husband, Daisuke. After getting a divorce, Rie had moved back to her hometown with her child before eventually meeting Daisuke and marrying him. They had started a happy family of four with the addition of a new child, when one day, Daisuke died in a tragic accident. Stricken with grief, the family holds a memorial service, where Daisuke’s estranged brother Kyoichi appears. When he takes a look at a photo of the deceased, he remarks, “This is not Daisuke.” Rie’s beloved “Daisuke” was actually someone else. Kido encounters an array of people in his pursuit to identify the man who had lived his life as a different person. He starts to close in on a shocking truth, but mixed feelings toward the mystery man start to arise within Kido.
