A juicy look at promising young filmmakers in the Future Frames section of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, including our FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, directed by Maciej Jankowski.

The diploma film of one of our graduates of the Film and Television Directing Department will be presented in the prestigious Future Frames section: Generation NEXT of European Cinema, in the KVIFF (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival) and EFP (European Film Promotion) programme as one of ten European films.

Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic and one of the most important events organized in Central and Eastern Europe. It has a festival class A, a category awarded by the International Association of the Federation of Film Producers to the most important festivals in the world: in Cannes, Berlin, Venice, San Sebastian, Moscow, Montreal, Shanghai and Tokyo.

EFP comprises the national film institutes: Austrian Film Commission, Czech Film Centre, Danish Film Institute, Finnish Film Foundation, German Films, Lithuanian Film Centre, Polish Film Institute, Institute of Film and Audiovisual Arts in Spain, Slovak Film Institute and the Swedish Film Institute that recommend short films from their countries.

The film FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, directed by Maciej Jankowski, was selected and nominated by the Polish Film Institute as the best Polish student / diploma short film. The section features 9 other titles from European countries, and the films are shown at industry, media and audience screenings. Young filmmakers have the opportunity to participate in a pitching seminar and a master class with the American director Tim Sutton.

Obese boy Wojtek is not only lacking self-confidence, but is also ashamed of his mother Dorothy, who is in charge of a run-down grocery store. One day, in order to make her change, Wojtek rebels against his mom.
