Prof. Lidia Zonn-Karabasz, an outstanding film editor, will have her Star at the Avenue of Stars in Łódź. We invite you to 71, Piotrkowska Street at 16.30 on May 17, which is the Professor’s birthday.

After the ceremony, we invite you to an open meeting with Lidia Zonn-Karabasz in the Cinema Hall at the Rectorate building at the Lodz Film School campus in Targowa 61/63 at 17.30.

"Lidia Zonn is a co-creator of all the films she has edited. This is her passion and personality," said director Marcel Łoziński about this exceptional filmmaker. Lidia Zonn-Karabasz began her studies at the Directing Department of the Polish Film School in Łódź, but during her studies she began to assist with film editing. This is how her fascination was born, from which, after creating her debut student film "Amusement Park", she decided to make film-making her profession and got a job at the Documentary Film Studio. Since 1968, she has been a member of the Polish Filmmakers Association.

In the 1950s and 1960s, she collaborated with Kazimierz Karabasz, Janusz Majewski, Władysław Ślesicki, Danuta Halladin, Andrzej Brzozowski and Irena Kamieńska, and in the 1970s with Krzysztof Kieślowski, Marcel Łoziński and Tomasz Zygadło. It was she who created the striking combinations of images and sounds in today's legendary documentaries: "The Hospital", "Seven Women of Different Ages", "The Visit", "Railway Station", "The Grass Flows", "From the Night Porter's Point of View", "At the Railway Track "," So that it does not hurt ". She also edited fiction films ("Lokis. Professor Wittembach's Manuscript" by Janusz Majewski, "The Staff" by Krzysztof Kieślowski, "The Shadow is Nearby" by Kazimierz Karabasz), writing screenplays and directing at the same time.

Lidia Zonn-Karabasz treats her work with full commitment, and in her career she particularly took to documentary film: "I approach feature films with caution, because here the script determines the structure of the film in advance. Documentary film opens up to everything that life brings, and it takes shape in the editing room. ". She willingly shares her long experience with young filmmakers. She is a professor of film art, educated several generations of editors and was involved in the establishment of the Extramural Higher Professional Editing College, which over time was transformed into full-time studies at the Film and Television Directing Department of the Lodz Film School.

She has been awarded many times for her contribution to the development of Polish cinema - in 2012, she received the Polish Filmmakers Association Award for outstanding artistic achievements and contribution to the development of Polish cinema, and in 2013, the Silver Medal "For Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis".

The Star for Lidia Zonn-Karabasz will be the 89th star in the Walk of Fame in Piotrkowska Street in Łódź.

The star for Lidia Zonn-Karabasz was founded by the Polish Filmmakers Association and the Leon Schiller Polish National Film, TV and Theatre School in Łódź.
