This is yet another Oscar nomination for a cinematography graduate of our School. So far this honour has been achieved by:

Paweł Edelman ("Pianist", dir. Roman Polański, 2003), at present lecturer and vice-dean of the Dept.

Hoyte Van Hoytema ("Dunkirk", dir. Christopher Nolan, 2018)
Łukasz Żal ("Cold War", dir. Paweł Pawlikowski, 2019)

And how can we fail to mention the extraordinary phenomenon of the Łódź-Polish-World School of Cinematography? The Film School in Łódź! As many as 6 nominations! Unfortunately, none of them turned into an Oscar, will the 7th turn out to be the lucky one?

We'll find out on April 25, during the 93rd Oscar Gala.
