Łukasz Żal and Ryszard Lenczewski, directors of photography of the film "Ida" directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, win a new award of the American Society of Cinematographers "Spotlight Award".
Three films
had been nominated for the award, which was finally awarded on 1st February.
The purpose of this new award is to recognize high quality of cinematography in films which may not receive wide theatrical distribution in the US. Spotlight Award, the new award of the American Society of Cinematographers, has been awarded to Ryszard Lenczewski and Lukasz Zal - both cinematographers are the Lodz Film School graduates. Prof. Lenczewski is currently vice dean of the Direction of Photography Dept. at the Lodz Film School.
The film "Ida" was produced by Opus Film, a Lodz studio run by Piotr Dzięcioł, production organization graduate of the Lodz Film School; The editor of the film, Jarosław Kamiński, is a Lodz Film School lecturer and the head of the Film Editing faculty at the school.
