Professor Zajicek, a legendary film producer and the icon of Polish film industry died on 9 April, at the age of 95.

April, at the age of 95. Edward Zajiček was involved in creating post war Polish film industry already from 1945. He was the manager of the production base of the Polish Army Film Production Company Krakow (1945-1946), director of the Documentary Film Production Company in Warsaw (1949-1950), and the production manager of the Film Units: "Syrena" (1955-56), "Iluzjon" (1956-67) and "Kadr" (1972-74).

He was an admired and charismatic academic teacher. He taught at the Lodz Film School in the years 1961-79 and from 1989 until present, and was a vice-rector of our school from 1989 to 1996. he also worked as a lecturer at the Radio and Television Department of the Silesian University in Katowice (1980-2006) where he was the Dean of the Department (1980-1986).

He is the author of many publications on the history of an economic aspect of film industry and film production organization such as "Basics of work economics in film production" (1980), "Polish film production" (1983), "An Outline of Polish film industry economics history" (2008), "Off the screen: Polish film industry 1896-2005" (2009), " An Outline of Polish film industry economics history. Vol. I – Free market film industry in the years 1896-1939" (2015).

His death is a great loss for all of us.
