Sebastian Buttny, a direction graduate, after the screening of his film debut "Heavy mental" talked about a Film Cooperative thank to which it was possible to produce the film.
On Tuesday,
14 January, Sebastian Buttny visited the school 8 years after finishing his
studies, on the occasion of the screening of his full-length debut "Heavy mental".
– I come back here with a great relief and satisfaction. I am very happy that the film has come out the way I wanted it to be. – said the film’s director, producer, screenwriter and editor.
During the meeting the specifics of the film production were discussed.
– I have invested my own money, having sold a flat – said Sebastian Buttny. Konrad Wróblewski, a producer and production manager who was present at the meeting talked about a Film Cooperative, which was established for the film production purposes and thank to which it was possible to provide the missing part of the film budget. – The cooperative is a kind of a collective body which consists in our case of 30 film artists engaged in making the film. They agreed to work without a definite remuneration but in case the film makes a profit they will participate in it.
The film is a story of a mentally blocked unemployed actor, who gets an assignment to play a tragicomical role in real life. In return for a flat he is supposed to pick up a girl and then “pass” her to the assignment provider. – The story in the film was just a pretext to show the generation of 30 year olds and their mental condition. – said Sebastian Buttny. The actors: Izabela Nowakowska and Grzegorz Stosz, Lodz Film School graduates of acting, are among the film cast. . The film was shot by Nicolas Villegas Hernandez, a cinematography graduate of the Lodz Film School. The Lodz Film School is a cooproducer of the film "Heavy Mental".
The film has already been screened at Mlodzi & Film Festival in Koszalin and at the Warsaw Film Festival.
