Our School offers a variety of payed training/ apprecticeship programmes (staz) for foreign students in directing, cinematography and animation.
Training in film directing, cinematography, or animation
An entrance examination is not required. The training is a subsidiary (additional) form of training in the above fields. It is primarily meant for those who already have some experience obtained either in film schools or directly in film production. The training is not considered to be a form of the post-graduate studies. Having university education is not required.
THE PROGRAMME OF THE TRAINING
The programme consists of a theoretical as well as practical part and its character depends on individual needs and preferences of a candidate. Before starting the training each participant chooses his/her tutor who will help to prepare the programme of the training, but most of all, is an artistic and production supervisor of a film the trainee will make. It's the student who chooses the classes he/ she wishes to participate in out of all the subjects taught in a given department (directing or cinematography) in all five years of regular studies.
All the classes are taught in Polish, but candidates are not required to know Polish.
The trainees themselves decide about the number and type of practical works (films) they intend to do during the training. This, of course, depends on their intentions and financial resources. The participant of the training has all student rights and gets an appropriate certificate once the training is finished.
REQUIREMENTS
The candidate should send to a given department a portfolio including:
- a description of one's experience in film making,
- an explanation why one wants to undertake the training plus one's expectations of it,
- candidate’s own works (films, videos or others) sent on a DVD or VHS-PAL cassette,
- the application form: theapplicationform.doc
The training formally starts when a tutor is asigned and the programme accepted. Then, both sides - the trainee and the School - sign a contract stating the financial conditions and the duration of the training. The most suitable training should last one academic year starting on the 1st of October.
The deadline for sending the applications and portfolio’s is the end of June each year.
FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
The fee for the training consists of two parts:
- a fixed payment of 4.000 € which covers theoretical tuition including participation in practical group works,
- the payment of a total film budget of a short fiction/documentary film the student intends to make during the training.
