The specialization in CINEMATOGRAPHY is a five-year full-time Master's program.

 

GENERAL RULES

The annual tuition fee is 10,000 EURO. The fee for the obligatory one-year Polish language course is 2,000 EURO. 

In the recruitment process the grades and test results from high school diplomas or other studies (regardless of whether the results are new or old or from an international school) will not be acknowledged. The acceptance to the School is based on the candidate’s tested artistic talents and career predispositions, as well as the quality of works produced during the entrance exams.

ENTRANCE EXAM FOR FULL-TIME PAID CINEMATOGRAPHY STUDIES (MASTER’S DEGREE)

Applicants should send all the documents (listed below) before June 30th to the address:

The required documents:

  • personal information form Application+form2012.doc, which should be filled in before printing;
  • high school graduation diploma, which should be:    
    - legalised by the Polish Consul in applicant`s country of residence (or alternatively Apostille of the diploma should be provided), 
    - translated into Polish by a sworn translator indicated by the Polish Consul;
  • certificate stating that the high school graduation diploma allows its holder to apply to all types of higher education institutions (including universities and academies) in the country where the diploma was issued, in case the diploma does not state this.      
    The certificate can be obtained from:    
    - education authorities in the country of the diploma issue,    
    - Polish Consul in the country of the diploma issue, 
    - in Poland at the diplomatic post of the country in which the diploma was issued;
  • documents providing information regarding the course of secondary education leading to high school graduation diploma such as a list of subjects taught, number of tuition hours and grades obtained;
  • copy of your passport;
  • curriculum vitae/ resume;
  • four current photos of candidate (passport size photo for standard ID cards)   
  • sample of personal work (photographs, films, etc.)

The exam requires a fee of 150 PLN, which is to be paid in the office of the Cinematography Department just before the exam. After submitting the application documents the exam fee is non-refundable.

The exam is held in English or optionally in Polish.

During the course of the exam you will be asked to complete the following tasks:

  • arranging a set, lighting and recording a short scene on a given topic,
  • creating a short scene (3 min., 1 shot scene using space and movement),
  • cinematographic analysis of films presented by the Exam Commission.

The exam ends with a conversation about the candidate’s portfolio and works produced during the exam, as well as the candidate’s knowledge of culture and the modern world.

Acceptance into the cinematography program will depend on the candidate’s performance at the exam, which tests their artistic talents and career predispositions, and the quality of the candidate’s presented portfolio.

The recruitment commission’s decision can be challenged or repealed only if the recruitment conditions and proceedings were violated.

STUDENT RESIDENCE

During the exam period it’s possible to reserve living accommodations (one must pay for) with advance notice given to the Dean’s Office of the Directing Department. Our Student Housing Dormitory, where we ordinarily place candidates, is located at 189/191 Piotrkowska Street.

There is a cafeteria and student buffet on the school’s campus where students can purchase food during the exam period.
