Uniform Master's Programme, full-time.

The Acting Department teaches future actors, preparing them for work in theater, film, television, radio and on stage. The Programme lasts 9 semesters, including a practical and theoretical acting education in the area of: elementary acting tasks, scenes with verse and prose, classic and modern roles, prose, verse, lessons in front of a camera, filming an actor, pronunciation, voice projection, rhythm, dance, music, artistic gymnastics, acrobatics, swordfighting, the art of movement, fencing, swimming, horseback riding, as well as the history of literature, art, costumology, and film, visual forms, philosophy and foreign language.

Graduates from our department – after obtaining passing grades for their roles in diploma theater presentations and after writing and defending their theoretical thesis – will receive the title of Master of Arts.

APPLICATIONS AND DOCUMENTS

For the entrance exam a candidate should send in the following documents: 

  • application - personal information form Application+form2012.doc. The application should be filled in before printing;
  • high school graduation diploma, which should be:
    - legalised by the Polish Consul in applicant's country of residence (or alternatively an Apostille of the diploma should be provided),
    - translated into Polish by a sworn translator indicate by the Polish Consul;
  • certificate stating that the high school graduation diploma allows its holder to apply to all types of higher education institutions (including universities and academies) in the country where the diploma was issued, in case the diploma does not stat this.
    The certificate can be obtained from:
    - education authorities in the country of the diploma issue,
    -  Polish Consul in the country of the diploma issue, 
    - in Poland at the diplomatic post of the country of the diploma issue.
  • documents providing information on the course of secondary education leading to the high school graduation diploma (such as the list of subjects taught, number of tuition hours and grades obtained);
  • curriculum vitae/ resume;
  • photocopy of personal identification card or passport (the School will verify its legitimacy);
  • four current photos of candidate - (passport size photo for standard ID cards);
  • proof of payment for the entrance exam.

Deposit the exam fee of 130 PLN into account number 21124015451111000011666233 in the PEKAO S.A. V O/£ód¼ Bank.

All required documents should be found in their attached application folder. After submitting the documents the examination fee is non-refundable.

Deadline for submitting documents is 31 May 2012.

The entrance exam will be held in Polish in June/ July:
the first stage - 20-23th of June
the second stage - 25-28th of June
the third stage - 29-30th of June and 1-2nd of July

ENTRANCE  EXAM

A candidate applying for the exam should possess the predisposition necessary for working in the profession: creative imagination, psychological sensitivity and endurance, proper pronunciation, good hearing, an adequate voice, sense of rhythm and above-average physical skills. 

A candidate should display a broad understanding of a variety of topics concerning culture and art.

For the entrance exam a candidate must choose and prepare the following presentations:

  • Four poems: one from the Polish or European Renaissanceone from the period of Polish Romanticism, but European Romanticism is also possibleone from the period of the 20-year period between the 1st and 2nd World Wars one from the period after 1945, with specific consideration of the last 10 years. 
  • Two monologues – from classic literature written in verse: first monologue – by a Polish dramaturg, second monologue – a European or World Drama Classic
  • Four fragments of prose: two from Classic Polish or World Workstwo from Works of modern Polish or World Prose
    Attention: by „classics” we mean works written before the Second World War, by „modern” we mean works from that time to today. Knowledge of the entire work of literature from which the monologue or prose fragment is taken is required. 
  • Must prepare two vocal works:
    a folk song – sung a-capella,
    a traditional song,
    a cabaret or a musical song
  • Attention: musical accompaniment is also suitable – for example, one’s own musical accompaniment, the accompaniment of another person, or background music on a CD.

I Elimination – is a selective process that evaluates:

  • Stage conditions, 
  • Voice and sense of hearing („having an ear for music”),
  • Pronunciation,
  • Interpretation of verses and poetry.
    Attention: texts prepared for presentation must be type-written with the given title of the work, author and the last name of the candidate – and must be added to the documents no later than the day of the exam.

Receiving positive scores in 1st elimination qualifies candidates for 2nd elimination

II. Elimination – is a competitive exam – using a point system and including the following:

  • Interpretation of:
    classical and modern verse,
    monologue
    classical and modern prose,
    vocal piece,
  • Evaluation of one’s physical condition:
    prepare a short (60 sec. maximum) rhythmic gymnastic arrangement set to music (bring your own cassette tape) containing the following elements: forward somersault, backward sumersault, bridge, Arabian balance.  Besides the routine set to music a candidate can demonstrate additional exercises they have prepared.
    test of dance abilities, sense of rhythm and musical coordination.
    Attention! regarding dance, it’s important to prove one’s abilility and knowledge of the basic steps of, at least one dance in the tango family (tango, waltz, cha-cha, rumba, etc.) and one folk dance (mazur, krakowiak, kujawiak, oberek).

Receiving positive scores in the above mentioned disciplines and tests qualifies a candidate for the Final Exam.

III. Competitive Final Exam – using a point system.

  • Elementary acting tasks.
    Candidate receives a theme off a short scene: their task is to perform the scene in the given circumstances
  • Acting task in front of a camera.
  • Qualification conversation about the history of Polish theater and the problems in modern life in Poland and in the world.

On the basis of points received by the candidates the Department Exam Commission establishes a list of those accepted for the first year of studies.
