Andrzej Kondratiuk, a director, screenwriter, cinematographer, Lodz Film School graduate died at the age of 79.

Andrzej Kondratiuk was one of the most original Polish film directors. He used to be called " a philosopher from Gzow". He directed such cult films as "Hydrozagadka" (1974), "Wniebowzięci" (1973), and "Jak to się robi" (1973), which created a legendary acting duo Himilsbach - Maklakiewicz. Since the 80-ties he has made his partly autobiographical, author’s films such as "Gwiezdny pył", "Cztery pory roku", "Mleczna droga", "Wrzeciono czasu" and "Słoneczny zegar". The last film he made was a documentary "Pamiętnik Andrzeja Kondratiuka" (2006).
