Irene Jacob, who used to work with Krzysztof Kieślowski, comes to Lodz for the PGNiG Transatlantic Festival and will give a master class at the Lodz Film School.

The French actress Irene Jacob, for the first time appeared on the big screen in Louis Malle’s film „Au revoir, les enfants" but it hadn’t been until she acted in our graduate Krzysztof Kieślowski’s films: "The Double Life of Veronique" (receiving Cannes Festival Award for the role) and "Three Colours: Red" that she became internationally famous.

During her Master Class at the Lodz Film School Irène Jacob will talk about Krzysztof Kieślowski’s work with the director of photography, actors and Krzysztof Piesiewicz, his screenwriting partner with whom he produced many screenplays. Irène Jacob will share with the participants her experience from the film set, rehearsals and the way Krzysztof Kieslowski directed his actors. She will also characterize Kieslowski’s style of film-making, especially concentrating on such issues as: editing methods, meaningful usage of music, connections of film with literature, the significance of coincidence, etc. The actress will also discuss Kieslowski’s passage from the documentary film to fiction film-making and his peculiar gift of showing the invisible.

The meeting with Irene Jacob, which will be run by Marcin Latałło, a film director and originator of the project "12 Borders", will take place on 27 June at 1 p.m. at the Film School’s Television Studio in Building Z
