Prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek has been re-elected for the Rector of the Lodz Film School for the new term 2016-2020.

The election, in which participated 35 electors, took place on Thursday 14 April. The Rector Prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek was re-elected for the new term 2016-2020 receiving 27 positive votes. Rector Prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek was the only candidate for the post.

Prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek, who was chosen the Rector of the Lodz Film School for the first time in 2012, graduated from film direction at the Lodz Film School where he has been teaching until now. He is a film and theatre director, screenwriter, art director, graphic artist, and a producer, the owner of the production studio Krakatau.

His student films „Krakatau” and „The Worm” were immediately noticed at international festivals winning major prizes. The 1993 film “Conversation with a Cupboard Man”, his fiction film debut, was awarded the Best Debut Award at the Venice Film Festival. . His next films were „The Queen of Angels”(1999), „I am yours” (2009).

In 2015, together with Lodz Film School students he made a film „Singing Napkin”, an unusual project, the first full-length acting students' diploma film, which competed in the “Different Look” section and won the Golden Claw Award at the Gdynia Film Festival.

Mariusz Grzegorzek also made music films devoted to excellent contemporary musicians such as Arvo Part, Meredith Monk, Giya Kancheli, Paweł Szymański.

Mariusz Grzegorzek is a member of the European Film Academy.
