Photo series by Marta Zgierska, our photography graduate, wins 2016 Photography HSBC Prize.
With the series "Post" , Marta Zgierska obtained her MA degree under the artistic supervision of Professor Grzegorz Przyborek. The HSBC Prize was the next achievement for her set of photos. Earlier "Post" also won, among others, prizes in the contests Lucie Foundation Emerging Artist Scholarship, LensCulture and Poznań Photo Diploma Award.
In 2013, I had a serious car crash. This was just the beginning of misfortunes. In time, that what seemed tamed became wild and came back as a revelation. My own physicality and pain became the source of my work. This is how the series got more personal, direct and corporeal. Behind each picture lies a story that doesn't need to be told at all- says Marta Zgierska about the origins of the series' creation.
