"Maquinaria Panamericana" at Berlinale

The film "Maquinaria Panamericana" made by our graduates Joaquín del Paso, direction, and Fredrik Olsson, DOP, is screening at Berlin Film Fest in Forum section. Lodz Film School is its co-producer.

Joaquin del Paso from Mexico and Fredrik Olsson from Sweden both studied cinematography an the Lodz Film School. The film project being a Mexican-Polish coproduction was initiated and developped at the school under the artistic supervision of Prof. Stanisław Szymański, vice-dean of Cinematography Dept. The film is Joaquin’s debut as a director of a feature film. Berlin Festival Forum section is devoted to avant-garde and experimental films seeking new means of film expression.

The story presented in the film "Maquinaria Panamericana" takes place in a factory going bankrupt at the outskirts of Mexico City where somewhere at the back of a warehouse the body of the firm boss Don Alejandro gets found. The employees having discovered the truth about the firm and having realized the condition they are in, decide to take radical steps to face it.

The 66th Berlin International Film Festival takes place from 11 to 21 February, 2016. This year, Małgorzata Szumowska, a direction graduate of our school, will be a jury member of the festival.
