It’s started with a dream of our acting students. A dream about a full-length film to be directed by Mariusz Grzegorzek. The dream which came true has now reached the stage of cinema distribution. With great pleasure we announce the news that the diploma film of our acting students „SINGING NAPKIN” directed by Mariusz Grzegorzek, Lodz Film School Rector, from the 5th February will be available at the best Film Clubs across Poland to appeal to your eyes, hearts and minds. After the Festival Tour (New Horizons in Wrocław, Transatlantic in Poznan, CINERGIA in Lodz, and Polish Film Festival in Gdynia where the film won the Golden Claw trophy – the prize for the best film in Different Look section) a much wider audience will be able to appreciate the film. On February 2, there will be the cinema premiere at Muranów cinema in Warsaw with the participation of the film-makers.

Four short films of various stylistics contribute to the “Singing Napkin” project: „KAZAN” about a painful process of initiation; "NARKOLOVESTORY" about drug addiction and love which helps to face the addiction; "PANCAKES (with SUGAR)" about the difficulty of parenthood under pressures of everyday life; and "SINGING NAPKIN” about the power of love – a poetic and visual adaptation of a Greek tale with a surreal dance inspired by Bollywood films in the grand finale. All these intertwined by fragments of audition of the students for the film which is not only their diploma project but also a ticket to the future career.

„Everything that was happening on the set; the energy we had, how we worked, all this was unique and we doubt it will ever happen again no matter with whom or on what we will work in future. – recall the actors. In such atmosphere the first in the history of artistic education in Poland a full-length diploma film of acting students was made at the Lodz Film School – without a high budget, or one definite method. – It is always an encounter of one person with another. It’s not always easy. It’s a kind of surgury on an open organizm. For some reason we all need it – said Mariusz Grzegorzek, the director of „Singing Napkin” and Lodz Film School Rector, having worked with the students on the project.
