Basia Wypych, was awarded a prize as a supporting actress performing the role of Witha in the play “Kamień”, whereas Alicja Juszkiewicz (role of Mieze) received a distinction of the Polish Film-makers Association. This year, the festival jury members were: the Polish writer and screenwriter, Janusz Głowacki; the Italian actor and dancer, Claudio de Maglio; the Ukrainian theatre director and teacher, Stanisław Moisiejew, and the Polish actor, Robert Więckiewicz.

The International Drama Schools Festival ITSelF is organized by the Warsaw Theatre Academy every two years. This year, acting students from such countries as Austria, the Czech Republic Germany, Spain, Iran, Lithuania, the USA, Italy and Poland staged their diploma plays. Poland was represented by our students’ play „Kamień” and the play „Mistrz i Małgorzata” from the Warsaw Theatre Academy.

The play„Kamień” based on the text of a contemporary German playwright Marius von Mayenburg and staged by the Studyjny Theatre was a great success and was very popular among the theatre goers in the last season. It also had very good critical reviews. The performance of the actors was very well received during the 33rd Drama Schools’ Festival in Lodz. Barbara Wypych, who played Witha, won the Grand Prix of the Festival.
