On 3rd June, Jacek Szymczak, a cinematographer, photographer, producer, school graduate and lecturer at our school, died from cancer at the age of 41.

Our school’s graduate Jacek Szymczak was a lecturer at the Cinematography Department and Film Art Department. In 2011, he was granted a PhD degree by the Cinematography Dept. He was also a lecturer at the Yagiellonian University. For many years, he worked for the television channel TVN . He was also a co-founder and teacher at the TVN Media School – an educational programme for television producers and film makers associated with TVN.

He worked on fiction films such as "Kiler" by Juliusz Machulski, "Przedwiośnie" by Filip Bajon and "Na Koniec świata" by Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, and on dozens of television productions. He produced and directed many independent films such as "Big Han. Adam Hanuszkiewicz", "Pod ciśnieniem" and "Kawaleria".
