Lodz Film School acting student, Maciej Musiałowski wins the Actor’s Song Interpretation Contest at the 36th Actor’s Song Competition in Wrocław.

Nine artists competed in the final competition concert. Maciej, not only won the main festival prize, the Golden Toucan, but also the Press Toucan, the journalists’ recognition prize. The jury in charge of selecting the main prize winner consisted of: Beata Fudalej, Natalia Korczakowska, Max Cegielski, Sambor Dudziński and Konrad Imiela.

The final concert (the third stage of the Actor’s Song Interpretation Contest of the 36th Actor’s Song Competition) took place at the Wrocław Capitol Music Theatre last Friday. As for the second stage, 23 young artists participated – nine of whom went on to the third stage. In addition to Maciej Musiałowski, the Lodz Film School was represented in the final contest by another student of acting, Sabina Karwala, who sang Ella Fitzgerald’s song "Air Mail Special" and Krzysztof Komeda’s " Rosemary’s Lullaby " with lyrics by Wojciech Młynarski. Maciej Musiałowski sang "Ederlezi", his own song "Mamo moja" and Tom Waits’ "Blue Skies".

The Wrocław Actor’s Song Competition is a prestigious festival devoted entirely to the art of theatre song. The Actor’s Song Interpretation Contest is the main part of the competition. Each year in the festival programme there are music performances directed by famous directors, concerts, as well as film screenings of films in which music plays a central role.
