‘Take part in the action. Play the role of the Marrow Hero. Show others that helping people can be primary.’ With these words, the action’s ambassador, Ireneusz Czop, encourages our school’s students to take part in the action ‘Become a bone marrow hero’. The school is the action’s co-organizer.

Every 4 minutes, somebody in the world is diagnosed with blood cancer, and every 10 minutes, somebody in the world dies from it. Only 30% of patients find a family donor; for the remaining 70% an unrelated donor needs to be found. When radio and chemotherapy fail the only therapy left is bone marrow or stem cell transplantation. All Lodz universities and public higher schools joined the action and Lodz University is coordinating it. The supervising partner of the action is the Marrow Donor Centre.

All volunteers who would like to help people diagnosed with leukemia can visit one of 16 medical points this month. One of them will be situated at the Lodz Film School campus on 20th March (Friday).
