"Ida" by Paweł Pawlikowski on the short list to the Oscar nominees. The film is amongst 9 out of 83 films which entered the Foreign Language Film category.

The five Oscar nominees will be announced on 15 January, 2015. The Academy Awards Ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 22 February. At this stage "Ida" is competing with other shortlisted films: "Tangerines" (Esthonia), "Leviathan" (Russia), "Force Majeure" (Sweden), "Wild Tales" (Argentina), "Corn Island" (Georgia), "Timbuktu" (Mauritania), "Accused (Lucia de B.)" (Netherlands) and "The Liberator" (Venezuela). The first three films also compete with "Ida" for the Golden Globe Awards whose winners will be announced on 11 January, 2015.

Last week was undoubtedly the time of a great triumph of Pawel Pawlikowski's film produced by the Lodz Opus Film Studio. On 13 December in Riga the film was awarded 5 European Film Academy statues for: the Best European Film, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Best Photography and the People's Choice Award. On 17 December Paweł Pawlikowski was awarded the "LUX" European Parliament Prize for a film promoting European culture and values.
