Paweł Pawlikowski's film "Ida" with photography of Łukasz Żal and Ryszard Lenczewski has been nominated to the Golden Globes Award.

"It’s a small jewel, tender and dark, funny and sad, photographed in a brilliant way (…), reminding of the classics of the Polish School of Film, but also the films of Francois Truffaut, Béla Tarr and Aki Kaurismäki" – as "The Guardian” wrote about Pawel Pawlikowski’s film, which has had many very good critics reviews in the international press including "The Hollywood Reporter" and "The Wall Street Journal". "Ida" has been sold for distribution to over 50 countries. In many ratings it has been considered as one of the best films of the year 2014. So far, the film has won the following prizes: the FIPRESCI Prize of the IFF in Toronto, the "Golden Lions" of the Gdynia Film Festival, the Grand Prix of the Warsaw Film Festival, the Grand Prix of the London Film Festival, and the "Golden Frog" of the Camerimage Festival.

The Golden Globes Awards next to the Film Academy Awards are the most highly valued awards granted in the USA. The nominees for the 72nd Golden Globes Awards have been announced on behalf of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association by Kate Beckinsale, Peter Krause, Paula Patton and the Golden Globe winner, Jeremy Piven. The event took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The nominations were announced in 25 categories both film and television. The Golden Globes Award Ceremony will take place on 11th January, 2015.

The film "Ida" directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and produced by Opus Film, a Lodz studio run by Piotr Dzięcioł, production organization graduate of the Lodz Film School; Director of Photography: Lukasz Zal and Ryszard Lenczewski, both cinematography graduates from the Lodz Film School (prof. Lenczewski is currently a lecturer at the Cinematography Dept.); Editing: Jarosław Kamiński, head of editing and lecturer at the Lodz Film School; Production: Ewa Puszczyńska.

Leading actresses: Agata Trzebuchowska (her premiere on the big screen) and Agata Kulesza, a winner of many prizes for the role of Wanda Gruz, e.g. the Best Actress Prize at the Gdynia Film Festival, „The Eagle” – the Polish Film Academy Award, and the Film Critics Award in Los Angeles. Best foreign language film nominations: Force Majeure (Sweden), Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem (Izrael), Ida (Poland/Denmark), Leviathan (Russia), Tangerines (Esthonia).
