Films of our graduates: Jaroszuk, Pasikowski, Komasa, Kazejak, Smarzowski, Królikiewicz, screening in the main competition "Heavy mental" & "Małe stłuczki" appear in "Different Approach" section.

On July 17, the 39th Gdynia Film Festival Organizational Committee announced a list of 13 films to be screened in the main competition. The following films of our graduates: "Kebab & Horoscope" by Grzegorz Jaroszuk, "Miasto' 44” by Jan Komasa, "Jack Strong" by Władysław Pasikowski, "Obietnica" by Anna Kazejak-Dawid, "Pod Mocnym Aniołem" by Wojciech Smarzowski, "Onirica - Psie Pole" by Lech Majewski, and "Sąsiady" by Grzegorz Królikiewicz, a Lodz Film School lecturer, will be competing for the Golden Lions.

Among the films in competition are: "Kebab & Horoscope", the fiction film debut of direction graduate, Grzegorz Jaroszuk. His student film, "Frozen Stories" based on his own screenplay (artistic supervision by Jan Jakub Kolski) received the most awards in 2012 from amongst Lodz Film School student films which were screened at 60 festivals, winning 20 prizes and distinctions. "Kebab & Horoscope", also based on the director’s own screenplay, had its premiere at the Karlovy Vary IFF 2014.

The Panorama section has been substituted by another section called the New Approach which is screening ‘Małe stłuczki’ & ‘Heavy mental’ among others ". The film "Małe stłuczki" by Lodz Film School editing students, Ireneusz Grzyb and Aleksandra Gowin, was well received at the Koszalin, "Młodzi i Film" Film Festival winning the Amber Prize for photography by Ita Zbroniec-Zajt, a cinematography graduate, and also the Press Prize for a full-length film.

"Heavy mental" is the fiction film debut of Sebastian Buttny, Lodz Film School Direction graduate, based on the director’s own screenplay.
