Another opportunity for lovers of avant-garde works. On 1, March at 5 p.m., we invite you to Szklarnia Gallery to the screening of Jonas Mekas' film REMINISCENCES OF A JOURNEY TO LITHUANIA.

This Friday, March 1st, at 5 p.m., as part of the programme of the MIGRANT AVANT-GARDE exhibition, we invite you to the Lodz Film School Szklarnia Gallery to see the film by Jonas Mekas: "Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania" (1972).

The film will be shown from the original 16mm print from the LIGHT CONE archive. It is a visual meditation and an autobiographical story of an "eternal immigrant", a "person without a place". We present the film in the context of ubiquitous migration crises and wars. The guests of the show will be Taras Gembik and Nadim Suleiman.

Taras Gembik - culture worker, performer, and poet from Ukraine. He has been cooperating with the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw for five years; his activities at MMA also involve including migrants and their perspectives and experiences in the life and public programme of the museum. Together with Maria Beburia, he has created the Blyzkist (closeness) collective, which focuses on creating a multi-level community of people with migration experience. He runs the Anti-Crisis Film Club together with the DajHerbate Foundation at the Museum of Modern Art for people in a homelessness crisis. Since the beginning of Russia's full invasion of Ukraine, he has been co-creating the Solidarity House of Culture "Słonecznik". In October 2023, he joined the “W Stronę Dialogu” Foundation team, which deals with the activation, support and strengthening of people from the Roma community.

Nadim Suleiman - student of the Film and Television Directing Department at the Polish National Film School in Łódź. His films have been shown at film festivals in Poland and abroad. He worked as an assistant director on productions such as "Republika Dzieci" by Jan Jakub Kolski, "Bread and Salt" by Damian Kocur, "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" by Francis Lawrence and "Green Border" by Agnieszka Holland. He co-founded the production company Palmyra Films, which is the leading producer of films such as "Dollar or Egyptian Pound?" "I am one of them", and "Living Giants”
