Join us for the 32. Drama School Festival in Lodz 6 - 11 May! Drama students from all Polish national drama schools will perform on stage of the Studyjny and Nowy Theatres.

In the programme of the 32nd Drama Schools’ Festival you will find diploma plays performed by the students of acting from Warsaw Drama Academy, Cracow Drama School, its Wroclaw Branch, and the Lodz Film School.

The Drama School Festival, which has been taking place in Lodz since 1983, is for the young actors their first opportunity to confront demanding festival audience and theatre critics, but also a chance to present themselves and initiate professional contacts. It is a meeting place for generations of theatre lovers ranging from young actors, through artists with huge professional experience and achievements, up to theatre artistic directors and film audition directors.

Among the Festival winners there are Zbigniew Zamachowski, Michał Żebrowski and Robert Więckiewicz.

The actors will compete for the recognition of the jury this year consisting of: Agata Kulesza (film and theatre actress), Bartłomiej Topa (film and theatre actor), Adam Orzechowski (Gdańsk Wybrzeże Theatre chief executive and artistic director), Jacek Wakar (a theatre critic and journalist) Violetta Laszczka (from Ministry of Culture).

The jury will choose the winners of the prizes funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. There will also be the audience prizes awarded to the most thrilling actress and actor funded by Polska Grupa Energetyczna. Following the long lasting tradition there will be a special Machul Prize „Be an Eagle and Fly High Up” funded by Jan Machulski and at present by his wife, which has been awarded on annual basis since 1991 to the greatest individuality of the festival.

The Festival of Drama Schools is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Lodz City Council. The Nowy Theatre in Lodz is the Festival’s coorganizer.

The honorary patronage over the festival has been assumed by Anna Komorowska, the wife of the President of Poland.

The Festival plays will be performed in Lodz at: Studyjny Theatre (8, Kopernika St) & Nowy Theatre (93, Zachodnia St./ 15, Więckowskiego St.). Here is the official Festival website: www.festiwalszkolteatralnych.pl
