Until May 5, at the Palace of Culture in Łuck, you can see an exhibition of photos of our lecturer, Prof. Krzysztof Heyke.

Krzysztof Heyke is a professor at our School, cinematographer, photographer and traveller. For many years, he has been photographing the outskirts of the Polish Republic, documenting the life of Poles and looking for traces of history. At the Palace of Culture in Łuck, Krzysztof Heyke presents an exhibition of photos "Not Only Katyń", where you can see photographs related to the Katyn Massacre.

The exhibition includes photographs of the cemeteries in Katyn, Miednoje and Kharkiv, as well as the monastery in Ostashkov, where the NKVD camp for Polish prisoners of war was located. We can see the exhumation works carried out in Bykivnia near Kiev in the 1990s. Then, we move in time to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war and see photos taken in April 2022 in Bucha, Irpien and Kharkiv. The similarity of topics, despite the time difference, is enormous.

- This theme unites Poles and Ukrainians in common pain and common history. For 20 years, I had travelled looking for Polish graves in Siberia. I must say that nature, weather conditions helped the Russians to cover almost all traces. Looking back over the years, it can be said that the Russians are cleaning up the traces more and more diligently. Therefore, documenting the crime should be done immediately, said Krzysztof Heyke during the opening of the exhibition.

The exhibition "Not only Katyń", which is organized under the patronage of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Łuck and the Department of Culture of the City Council of Łuck, will last until May 5. Admission to it is free.

- I would like this exhibition to be a kind of indication for Ukrainians to take advantage of the many years of experience of Poles fighting for memory, summed up Krzysztof Heyke.
