A review of Polish animated and experimental films in Mexico as part of the ANIMA POLONIA event. The Lodz Film School is a Partner.

ANIMA POLONIA The review is devoted to Polish animated and experimental films from the period starting in the 1950s up to last year's productions. After Mexico City at the end of May it's time for the shows in Guadalajara. The event takes place from 23rd to 28th June

The organizers of ANIMA POLONIA are Ella Films, Cineteca Nacional de México and Centro de Capacitación Cinematografica (CCC), and the partners are the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico, the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź and the National Film Archive - Audiovisual Institute (FINA). The event is organized in cooperation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Fumi Studio, Aurum Film, Bow & Axe Entertainment, Fixa Film, Andersa Street Art and Media, Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała and Ryszard Kapuściński Foundation HERODOT.

Ella Films, the Polish organizer and producer of ANIMA POLONIA, received co-financing from private individuals and public funds from the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the "Polish culture in the world" programme.

The inauguration of ANIMA POLONIA took place on May 24, 2022 in Cineteca Nacional de México, during which four films by Piotr Dumała were shown: "Walka, miłość i praca" (2009), "Zbrodnia i kara" (“Crime and Punishment”) (2000), "Ostatnia wieczerza" ("Last Supper") (2019) and "Kołysanka" ("Lullaby") (2012).

Prof. Piotr Dumała, head of the Department of Animated Film and Special Effects of our School, one of the most respected Polish animated film directors, two-time Oscar nominee was the special guest of the event. The ANIMA POLONIA programme was developed by the organizer of the 1st Polish Film Week in Mexico, Ela Chrzanowska (Ella Films), in cooperation with film curators: Krzysztof Brzezowski (THE BEST OF LODZ FILM SCHOOL section), Alicja Cichowicz (WORKSHOP OF FILM FORM section), Katarzyna Mąka-Malatyńska (sections: FAIRY TALES NOT FOR CHILDREN and METAPHORES OF FREEDOM AND ENSLAVEMENT) and with director Piotr Dumała (inauguration and masterclass).
