Netflix has started a series of workshops for students of our School. This is the beginning of a joint, long-term cooperation.

The joint initiative will make it easier for young talents to take their first steps on their artistic path and will also facilitate the beginning of their professional career in the Polish audiovisual industry.

The main assumption of the long-term cooperation between the Lodz Film School and Netflix is the creative development of a new generation of filmmakers from Poland. The partners share common goals - discovering and supporting young talents, as well as enabling them to improve the practical professional competences necessary to start a career in the changing film market.

The project is part of the international Netflix Grow Creative programme, under which students of screenwriting, film production and directing take part in a series of workshops conducted by experts in their fields. Training for people linking their future with the creative industry will include, among others: conducting and coordinating creative cooperation, screenplay writing and development, preparing for pitching.

“We are very happy to start cooperation with the Lodz Film School. It is one of the world's leading film schools, which also has a significant impact on the entire audiovisual industry in Poland. It is here that Polish film talents are born and shaped. Through activities included in the wider Grow Creative programme, we want to support the artistic and professional development of talented students and provide them with the best possible start in their professional careers. This is not a one-off initiative, but the beginning of our long-term investment in relations with the Lodz Film School and, therefore, in the future of the Polish film and television industry,” comments Christopher Mack, director of the Grow Creative programme at Netflix.

“In the educational programme of the Lodz Film School, we focus both on the development of sensitivity, talent and creative individuality, as well as on perfect mastery of the professional skills and knowledge of work in the professional film and audiovisual industry. To achieve the latter learning objective, it is important to cooperate with entities that have been successfully operating in the industry for years. That is why we are pleased with the prospect of cooperation with Netflix, which will enrich the educational offer of the School and enable the acquisition of extra-curricular knowledge about the development of film and series projects as well as the technological and organizational standards of professional production. Such skills directly translate into an increase in professional competences and increase the chances of our graduates building a professional career and their own artistic path,” says the Rector of the Lodz Film School, Milenia Fiedler, PhD.

The just announced cooperation was launched with a two-day-long workshop, whose participants had the opportunity to hear about the art of storytelling, the specific principles of production, financing and post-production, as well as learning the secrets of the process of acquiring titles for Netflix. This is the first of the planned activities that will support young talents in creative work and creating engaging film and series projects that will delight audiences from all over the world.
