Australian director Jennifer Kent and her longtime associate, cinematographer Radek Ładczuk invite you to a film screening and meeting at the School on October 25 and 26.

The discussion, which will be hosted by our lecturer, director and film critic Kuba Mikurda, will concern creative cooperation.

Directly after the screening, at approximately 11:15, there will be a meeting with the director Jennifer Kent and the film’s cinematographer Radek Ładczuk, hosted by Kuba Mikurda.

JENNIFER KENT
Born in Brisbane, Australia, Jennifer Kent graduated in acting from the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) and worked as an actress for many years before focusing on writing for the stage and directing. She worked as an assistant on Lars von Trier's "Dogville" while developing her own projects. Her short film "Monster" was shown at many film festivals, including the Telluride Film Festival and Aspen Shortsfest. Her full-length feature debut film THE BABADOOK had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014. The film has won numerous awards around the world, including 3 Australian Academy Awards (AACTA) and the Best First Film at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. THE NIGHTINGALE, Jennifer Kent's second film premiered in the main competition at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Jury Award and the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Talent for main actor Baykala Ganambarr. The film won 6 Australian Academy (AACTA) awards, including Best Picture, Screenplay and Directing, and nominations for Cinematography, Editing and Acting. Jennifer Kent recently completed work on Guillermo Del Toro's “Cabinet of Curiosities” for Netflix, in which she directed an hour-long ghost story entitled "The Murmuring" with cinematography by Radek Ładczuk, her longtime collaborator.

RADEK ŁADCZUK
A graduate of the Cinematography Department of the Łódź Film School. He has worked on many feature, documentary and commercial projects in Poland and abroad. He is valued for his visual style. The film "Suicide Room", directed by Jan Komasa received the award for the Best Cinematography for a Feature Debut at the Camerimage festival in 2011 and the Andrzej Munk Award in the same category. Cinematography in the film was also awarded with the Golden Duck of the Film magazine. His first foreign feature film "Princess" directed by Tali Shalom Ezer received the Cinematography Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Since 2011, Radek Ładczuk has been working with the Australian director Jennifer Kent, with whom he made the films "The Babadook" and "The Nightingale". In 2020, he was nominated for the Australian Film Award for cinematography in "The Nightingale".
In 2019, Radek Ładczuk worked with director Jan Komasa again on the sequel "Suicide Room: Hater". Soon after its premiere, the film was awarded at the Tribeca Film Festival for the Best International Feature Film. In 2021, Radek worked as DOP on the Irish film "Nocebo", with the actress Eva Green, directed by Lorcan Finnegan, and as DOP for the screen adaptation of Władysław Reymont's novel "Chłopi", directed by Dorota Kobiela, a film made in the technique of hand-painted animation.
