KATARZYNA MAŁYSZKO, a student animation, is the winner of the competition for the logotypes of four Councils of our School.

The competition for the logos of the four Councils of the Łódź Film School, namely, the Programme Council, the Small Programme Council, the Evaluation Council and the Technical Council, was addressed to students of the Animated Film and Special Effects faculty and was announced by the school's authorities last January.

The members of the competition jury were:
Aleksandra Chrapowicka, PhD
Prof. Jolanta Dylewska
Prof. Izabela Łapińska
Prof. Piotr Dumała
Prof. Sławomir Iwański
Piotr Kotlicki, PhD
Krzysztof Brzezowski, MSc (PR Office)
Adrian Cieszkowski (Head of the Student Council)

The justification of the jury verdict reads:
The function of a graphic sign depending on the application and perception of the recipient, can be performed by a lettering system, a realistic or synthetic drawing, or even a photograph.
Ms. Katarzyna Małyszko's graphic signs designed for the four Councils of the Łódź Film School, i.e. the Programme Council, the Small Programme Council, the Evaluation Council and the Technical Council, prove that the author took into account the concept of a graphic sign as an artistic work adequate to the expressed idea, closely related to visual communication by means of a mental shortcut, a symbol.
The designed individual signs have common ideological and constructional features, they are economical and concise, and additionally create a kind of system. The structural basis is a circle, divided into four symmetrical parts. Each part of the circle properly designed signifies a specific Council and is its separate sign. The signs arranged next to each other, although separate, are closed in a circle forming a coherent whole.
The symbolism of the circle is very rich, it refers, among others to: God, infinity, law, perfection, precision and harmony.
Thus, the idea that the four signs of the School Councils fit into a circle also has an ideological and symbolic justification.
