Another research session is underway by the team of S3D vnLab, the Visual Narratives Laboratory operating at the Łódź Film School.

The crew is shooting the project in a new scenography - the protagonist will face the search for a solution under completely unexpected circumstances.

During the two-week shoot, the crew will be working on a scene about a fight against time. They will focus on the main cinematographic and stereographic assumption, which is the implementation of the limit values of stereoscopic parameters and a strong introduction of the so-called foreground.

This is the fifth meeting as part of the project and the first one in 2021. The works will also be accompanied by extensive documentation of the laboratory task on spatial dependencies and relations between objects in a stereoscopic picture. The lab team will share this experience with us soon.

The activities undertaken in the S3D vnLab Studio are aimed at developing standards for working with the stereoscopic photography technique in stop motion productions and adapting them to the needs of dramatic narrative in film works, as well as extending the possibilities of visual expression in S3D works. The result of 4 years of work under the project will be a stereoscopic animated film in stop motion with the working title "In Side". There are also plans to create a handbook on stereoscopy in an animated film.

The project team of S3D vnLab Studio includes:
Piotr Matysiak – head of the studio and image operator
Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi – director
Miłosz Hermanowicz – stereographer
Bartosz Kotarski – animator
Agnieszka Mikołajczyk – puppeteer
Marcin Jasiński – set designer
Marta Chyła-Janicka – script-doctor
Justyna Rucińska – deputy head of the studio and production manager
Jędrzej Hejduk – production assistant
Tomasz Łaptaszyński – stills photographer
Małgorzata Gontarska – communication specialist
Mikołaj Zacharow – responsible for technical support and motion control service

The next session will be held at the turn of June and July.
