"The Seagull" by Anton Chekhov is being directed by Grzegorz Wiśniewski. Premiere is 12 and 13 September at the Studyjny Theatre.

The play is about theatre and actors, about art, about life and its inevitable passing, about unfulfilled dreams, about ourselves.

This most theatrical and personal drama by Chekhov is a timeless, universal story about the clash of brutal, only seemingly banal prose of life with dreams of beauty, art, happiness and love. Grzegorz Wiśniewski presents the immortal conflict of generations, collides old and new theatre forms. You cannot choose a better drama for a graduation play for young actors - students!

While working on this show, I realized that I would not like to live my life as the characters in the play do. Every day I appreciate what I have more and more. What intrigued me the most in "The Seagull" was the concept of love in its various aspects. A mother's love for her son. Love of art. Love out of convenience. Sincere and incomprehensible love. Hetero and homosexual love. However, there is always a common denominator here. Tenderness (…) We are responsible for our choices. And each of our choices is associated with both joy and suffering. - Daniel Stanko

The play becomes a continuous journey for the actors during which they discover their own sensitivity in the face of reality - both the theatrical reality and the external reality that has changed so rapidly in front of our eyes. Here, the comfort zone is practically non-existent, and the relationship with the director becomes more important than ever.

For me, "The Seagull" is about mankind and the individual. About young and old, bitter and radiant people. It is about us, students of acting schools who fight for art, sometimes ineptly, sometimes against an imaginary enemy. It is about the dream of being fulfilled, the dream of being an artist without an unnecessary colourful background. It is about truth, both brutal and beautiful. It is about a sweet and bitter lie. I am happy that I found myself with my colleagues in this space - in this world and I am grateful to the director for how he took care of us, gave us a chance, watched over us with tenderness but also with ruthlessness at times, who led us and was simply there for us. - Klaudia Janas

"The Seagull" is a compositional bracket of our passage through school. It is a story about the lives of people who proclaimed theatre as their supreme value. For me, it was mostly work on growing to accept my weaknesses and trying to turn them into strengths. Art needs living people, we need living people, so we hope that, despite the current situation, we will meet in the theatre! - Karolina Kostoń

The premiere of the THE SEAGULL will take place on September 12 and 13 at the Studyjny Theatre.

Take a look at yourself in the mirror of reality which is what theatre is!
