The POLES 'OWN PORTRAIT project has originated out of the need to make films regardless of external conditions. Being in home isolation, students of the Lodz Film School Directing Department saw a chance to capture and create a unique self-portrait of Poles during the pandemic.

Basic work and thousands of phone-calls resulted in 150 hours of recordings from hundreds of people. Despite the restrictions being gradual lifted and life slowly getting back to normal, the protagonists of the project continue to send their films, wanting to share their lives, thoughts and emotions associated with them.

To meet these needs, the initial idea #pandemiafilmowa LET'S MAKE A FILM TOGETHER, naturally turned into POLES OWN PORTRAIT, in which student filmmakers will work online on their self-portrayals throughout the whole year 2020.
