Student films: BITTER HERB by Maria Ornaf, BALLAST by Daniel Howlid and FAMILY²(documentary) by Yifan Sun, are in competition sections of the 43th Norwegian Short Film Festival.

The festival will be held online, from 10 to 14 June, 2020.

The films BITTER HERB by Maria Ornaf & FAMILY² by Yifan Sun are screening in the international competition, and BALLAST by Daniel Howlid in the Norwegian film competition.

BITTER HERB
"In the old days, mothers wishing to wean their toddlers from breast feeding, rubbed their nipples with a bitter herb infusion, so that the toddler , feeling the bitter taste, would never want mother's milk again."

FAMILY²
Lola was born in China, Ningdu County. She is the third child of her parents. Shortly after her birth, she is taken from her family home by a midwife who is supposed to look after the family. Her parents can't keep Lola in accordance with the ‘’one-child only’’ policy. She is soon adopted by a Belgian family who surrounds her with love and support. For years, Lola dreams of meeting her biological parents but she has no idea who they are or how to find them. In the summer of 2018 her dream finally comes true.
