" I have been making films and taking photographs all my conscious adult life. If you count all the films and film series in which my work is incorporated, you will come up with a figure of over a hundred titles ... Actually, I have done everything when working on films. I was DOP, documentary film co-director, camera operator, aerial DOP (airplanes, helicopters and car shots), assistant director and script & continuity. I was a stills photographer ... and even an actor ... And it all started by accident... As a reward for promotion to the graduation class, I inherited a Kodak bellows - Vollenda 620 from my dad. Day in, day out, I used to wander around for hours taking photos. And at night, in the bathroom, the mystery of developing film and printing photos took place. The process of the“new worlds" coming into being in a magical red light still works on my imagination and now, in the age of digital photography, I guess I miss it very much. I can safely say that it was my first fascination with the image and what drew me into it so much was this fascinating "non-reality" of the tangible, world of objects known to me and the people I photographed. Then, there was the graduation exam, Film School in Łódź and working on films. Unfortunately, the nature of making films as a team in a way, means that in many cases we deal with matters that do not really concern us directly and our commitment results from our "professionalism". Working on a film as DOP, I just realize the director's vision and try to look at the world through his eyes. The moment I pick up a stills camera, this perspective changes to my own; impulses comes from me; I photograph what I like and I do it the way I like - I realize my own vision. This exhibition is the second presentation of my, in a sense, private photographs. The first one took place during the FFF in Gdynia in 2018. So my photography is really a private record of personal interests, a time of fascination with people, situations, objects ... It is an attempt to preserve what I, at the moment, think is valuable enough to wish to return to someday. I'm interested in a different view and I look at the world in my photos as a random passerby.”
