One of the most sought-after Polish actors of the last decade was the guest of Łukasz Maciejewski’s class with the Acting Department students.

He is famous for being a workaholic who prepares for each of the roles he receives with great care. He accepts only those proposals which allow him to "enter the role." According to him, there is no place for "fakery" in his work. The actor talked about the beginnings of his adventure in the profession and the adversities he has encountered on the way and what he thinks, from a current perspective, has been the key to success.

“Our only defence in the profession is what we have inside. It is important to be aware of your own worth and have capacity for self-criticism.”

“Each of you in your professional life will reach a milestone, which is an important moment as it will change you. It does not have to be visible from the outside. It is important that it will be an important moment for you. It is worth remembering that moment.”

For Łukasz, such a symbolic moment became the episodic role in the series, "Sfora" where he performed alongside, among others, Krzysztof Kolberger. The partner cooperation with experienced colleagues on the set helped him understand his own value as an actor. Łukasz also emphasized that the actor's profession is not just about performing the text found in the script. An actor’s creative contribution to dialogues and even significant changes in the scenes are possible and often are created spontaneously while working on the set, thanks to well-prepared actors.

“It is important to watch foreign films, thus mobilizing your imagination (...) The advantage of cinema is that you can fill the scenes up so that you cannot see the seams.”

When asked what he would have said to himself at the beginning of his acting career but from today's perspective of having twenty years of experience, Łukasz replied, "Always calm and always 100%".

Remarkably, since 2016, Łukasz Simlat has managed to star in 26 productions! Among them there are feature films popular among Polish viewers and film critics, such as “Boże Ciało” (“Corpus Christi”), "Fuga", and earlier “Zjednoczone stany miłości” or "Amok". The actor also appeared on the small screen during this period. He played, among others in the Canal +series hit "Belfer", the first Polish Netflix series "1983" and in one of the largest series production of HBO in recent years "Pakt". He is a two-time winner of the best supporting role award at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia. There have also been many dramatic roles in his acting career. He has played, among others at the National Theatre, Polonia Theatre and Studio Theatre.

The meeting took place on December 10 (Tuesday) as part of Łukasz Maciejewski's class with the students of the Acting Department.
