We would like to make a comment on the untrue media message hidden under the title "Students and graduates of the Lodz Film School are demanding the cancellation of the meeting with Roman Polanski".

In connection with the appearance of media reports about Roman Polanski's planned visit to the Lodz Film School, we would like to comment on the untrue message hidden under the title "Students and graduates of the Lodz Film School are demanding the cancellation of the meeting with Roman Polanski".

Firstly, no letter was received by the school authorities, whether on paper or by e-mail, in the said case. The widely commented on petition created by one of the students was not forwarded to anyone in the School's authorities, nor was anyone from the authorities officially informed about it. Secondly, 43 students and graduates of the School signed the petition with their name and surname.

As many as 868 students are currently studying at the School. If we add a few thousand graduates to this, the number of people who signed the abovementioned petition will not exceed 1%. The commonly used phrase, "Students and graduates of the Lodz Film School are demanding the cancellation of a meeting with Roman Polanski" has a straightforward meaning. It indicates that the community of the Lodz Film School is in favour of cancelling the meeting. Given the number of signatures for the other contrary petition and the impact of comments on the student social profile, the vast majority of students support the idea of organizing the meeting with Roman Polanski at the School.

We appeal to all persons and entities supplying information and at the same time creating the media reality for their reliability and objectivity, the lack of which produces a false and harmful message.
