The Star dedicated to Prof. Bolesław W. Lewicki, pioneer of Polish film studies, Rector and long-term lecturer of the Lodz Film School, will be unveiled in the Walk of Fame in Piotrkowska str in Łódź.

The star unveiling ceremony will take place in Piotrkowska Street in front of the Grand Hotel on Oct. 17, at 11:00 a.m.

After the ceremony, at 11:30, there will be a meeting organized whose participants will share their memories of Prof. Bolesław W. Lewicki (venue: Club at 77, Piotrkowska Street) and in the afternoon at 15:00, there will be a screening of a film about Prof. Bolesław W. Lewicki "You know how it is" directed by Grzegorz Królikiewicz (venue: Museum of Film in Lodz). On October 19, at the Film Museum in Łódź, there will be a screening of student films made under the artistic supervision of Prof. Bolesław W. Lewicki (11: 10-11: 50) and a workshop entitled, "Cut. Free your mind with Bolesław Lewicki " at 12: 00-14: 45 at the Lodz Film School Cinema.

The founders of the professor's star are: University of Lodz and Lodz Film School.

Bolesław W. Lewicki - Film theoretician, critic, teacher. In the 1930s, he was a reviewer in the "Polish Word" newspaper published in Lviv and in "Gazeta Lwowska" and a high school teacher. In 1932-35 he was active in the "Awangarda" Film Club. In 1937 he made several educational films (in his autobiography from 1951 he mentions their titles: "Kamień Dobosza"("Dobosz Stone"), "Święto poległych", "Pieśń listopadowa" ("November Song"), and his cooperation on the making of the model film "Old Lviv"). In 1939, he started working at the Polish Radio, he was, among others programme manager of the Toruń Radio Station. He spent the war years in concentration camps: Auschwitz, Gross-Rosen and Dachau. In the years 1947–49 he was the programme director in the Production Department of the Feature Film Studio in Łódź; in the years 1949–50 he performed a similar function at the Educational Film Studio. From 1948 he was a lecturer at the Lodz Film School (PWSF) and in the years 1968–71 its Rector. From 1960 he was also a lecturer at the University of Lodz where he managed the Film Studies Institute and the Institute of Theory of Literature, Theatre and Film. In 1976-81, he was a professor at the Institute of Polish Philology at the University of Gdańsk. Author of several books on film theory and camp memories entitled "Wiesz jak jest" ("You know how it is").
