It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of our friend and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the long-term director of the Department of Artistic and Cultural Education.

Wiktor Jędrzejec was born in Przeworsk on 8 July, 1961. Graduate of the State Visual Arts High School named after Stanisław Wyspiański in Jarosław, he studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1981-1986. He obtained his diploma in the class of Prof. Maciej Urbaniec, annexes to the diploma in the class of Prof. Janusz Przybylski from painting and graphic art of Prof. Halina Chrostowska-Piotrowicz. Having graduated from the Academy, he started teaching as an assistant at the Comprehensive Advertising Design Class of Prof. Tadeusz Jodłowski at the Academy department. Then, from 1995-1999, he worked as an assistant professor at the Poster Design Class of Prof. Waldemar Świerzy. From 1999, he was Head of the Part-Time Studies at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, where he was Head of the Composition of Solids and Surfaces Class of Compositions and from 2004 the Fundamentals of Book Designing Class. From 2002-2005, he was the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Graphics. From 2005 to 2009, he was the Vice-Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. From 2010, as a full professor, he taught classes at the Inter-University Multimedia Artistic Workshop.

From 2009-2016, he was Director of the Department of Artistic and Cultural Education at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

He cooperated with Polish Television as an assistant designer in 1997 and as a program editor of periodic programs about art: Multimedia magazine, Art of animation, Image and sound.

Collaborator of many publishing houses. Apart from PIW, where he worked for 26 years as a graphic designer, senior graphic artist and chief graphic designer, he also cooperated with other publishing houses, such as: PWRiL, Andy Grafik, Epoka, Wydawnictwo MON, Oskar, T.W. Nowel, Editions Spotkania, Twój Styl, Rytm, RM, Eremis, Artvitae.

He designed advertising materials for PSP, Varimex, Cepelia, Top Art and the Hungarian Institute of Culture.

Graphic designer in many magazines, among others Life Video, Open Society, Żyjmy Dłużej, Gazeta Lekarska and Art & Business.

Member of the Organizational Committee of the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw.

He participated in many exhibitions at home and abroad, including IX Biennial of Art, Valpariso, Chile 1989, In the Face of Values, Katowice 1990, I Biennale of Polish Graphic Art, Katowice 1991, Aus der asche gelesen, StadtCastrop - Rauxel-Rathaus and Rathaus-Bunde, Germany 1995, Man, Aula Gallery Warsaw 2000, Neighbours Gallery Orangery Palace of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Jabłonna 2011, Honest lies, Rondo Sztuki Katowice 2014, After-views, Trafostacja Sztuki Szczecin 2014. He is the author of functional graphics and drawings.
