Exhibition will be held till 22 September at the Re Gallery at the Museum of Contemporary Art, MOCAK in Krakow. Lodz Film School is the exhibition partner.
Part of the exhibition, which will be held from 27 June to 22 September, is a presentation of documentaries made by Lodz Film School direction students in the first year class in documentary film-making run by professors, Grażyna Kędzielawska, Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz and Sławomir Kalwinek.

The films are characterized by a large thematic diversity. Directors choose people who belong to very diverse social groups, representing different attitudes and making various choices. The common elements are anthropological reflection, presentation of a certain way of life and worries, desires and longings related to it. At the level of formal solutions, we can distinguish two forms of narrative. The first - more popular among students - is portraying selected characters and social groups through the statements of a film’s central characters, combined with the director's comments. The second type of narrative is telling the story above all with images and sound. The first one, the documentary way of building a story is a bit more obvious. In the second one, reading the sense is based on the intuition and visual mindfulness of the viewer.
The documentary films shown lead to the conclusion that the personality and sensitivity of a person are to a large extent determined by his or her life choices and relationships with loved ones.
The publication of “The Documentary Film-maker's Guide. The Skill Basics”by Grażyna Kędzielawska describes her original teaching program. The book will be available at the MOCAK Bookstore. It has been translated into English, French and Belarusian.
