Accompanying event of 37th Drama Schools’ Festival. Discussion panel: Casting secrets - the role of the casting director in the film production process.

During the panel you will be able to find out what the work of the casting director is about – what his influence on the choice of the cast is, what his cooperation with the director looks like and why (for now) no Oscars are awarded in the category "Best Cast". The guests will talk about the difference in the work of the casting director in Poland and in the West and how actors and actors’agencies can create and maintain relationships with casting specialists. An important element of the discussion will also be the assessment of the chances of actors from Eastern Europe to participate in international film and series productions. Our guests will also talk about the beginnings of their work in the profession. 

BEATRICE KRUGER (ICDN, CSA, UICD) – started her career as a theatre actress in the 70s and 80s. She became the casting director in the 90s and in 1992 she founded the FBI Casting company in Rome. She takes part in both Italian and international projects. She was in charge of casting to such films as „To Rome with Love” by Woody Allen, „The Cut” by Fatih Akin, „Grain” by Semih Kaplanoglu, „My Mother’s Smile” by Marco Bellocchio. She also cast Italian and European actors in „Spectre” by Sam Mendes, „Inferno” by Ron Howard, „Ocean’s Twelve” by Steven Soderbergh, „Casino Royale” by Martin Campbell and many others. She is the founder of an international platform for casting directors and European actors, www.e-talenta.eu, available in various languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French, Russian and German.
 
TUSSE LANDE (Kompani Lande, ICDN) – has been responsible for the cast in prestigious projects in her native Sweden as well as in large international productions. Among the films she has worked on are "Millennium: Men who hate women", dir. Niels Arden Oplev, "Millenium: The Girl Who Played with Fire", "Millennium: The Girl who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest", dir Daniel Alfredson, and a series „Wallander”. Tusse Lande also prepared the Swedish casting for "Skyfall" by Sam Mendes, as well as "Alien Heaven" by Dariusz Gajewski.
 
PIOTR BARTUSZEK – casting director of numerous Polish and international productions. He worked among others with Tomasz Wasilewski on „Zjednoczone Stany Miłości”, Anna Jadowska on „Dzikie Róże”, Jan P. Matuszyński on the series „Król”. On the occasion of international projects he worked with Claire Denis on „High Life”, Michael Glawogger on „Contact High”, Aleksander Sokurow on „Faust”, Francois Girard on „Song of Names”, Marie Noelle on „Marie Curie” and Emily Atef on „Wundschkinder”.

The workshop on casting will be a closed event.

The closed workshop for the previously selected group of participants will be run jointly by Beatrice Kruger and Tusse Lande.
