Łukasz Maciejewski, a lecturer at the Acting Department, invites exceptional guests to participate in his classes. This time, the questions were fired at Robert Więckiewicz.

One of the most respected Polish actors was a guest of Łukasz Maciejewski's class at the Acting Department. Enthusiastically received by students, for over two hours he answered the questions of young adepts of acting.

Robert Więckiewicz recalled the moment of leaving the acting school, the beginnings of working in the profession, ups and downs and finally ... the first major role he played at the age of 37 (!) in the film "Vinci" by Juliusz Machulski. He stressed that nothing came easy to him and he owed his success not only to hard work but also luck and people he met on his way. He suggested to the younger colleagues that they would now answer sincerely the question "what I want", and think of the essence of the profession as a process similar to constructing a building.

"The development of an actor is like constructing a building. It is a process that is extremely fascinating. You come to such a point that you want every next brick to be different from the previous ones and the most important but at the same time it should fit the entire building.”

"It’s not going to be easy but it’s worth it!" With these words our guest ended the meeting, at the same time wishing everyone the best of luck.

Last year, undoubtedly belonged to him! “Clergy” by Wojciech Smarzowski, “7 Feelings” by Marek Koterski and “Like the Dog and Cat” by Janusz Kondratiuk are the three feature films where we can admire Robert Więckiewicz on the big screen. Not enough? He also appeared in two of the most-famous series of the last year - "Blinded by the Lights" and "1983".

In some films, he played the leading role, in others, in a supporting role he managed to completely overshadow the main characters and gain many fans! In “Clergy” by Wojciech Smarzowski he plays a village parish priest who, while serving in a poverty-stricken place, increasingly succumbs to human weaknesses. In “7 Feelings” by Marek Koterski, he plays Miki, Adas Miauczyński’s brother. In "Like the dog with the cat", together with Olgierd Łukaszewicz, they created moving characters of two brothers with a complicated relationship. In "Blinded by the Lights", he created the hypnotic character of a gangster, Jacek, and his dialogues with Dario (Jan Frycz) became almost cult within a few weeks of the premiere. At the same time, he appeared in the first Polish Netflix production, “1983”. This dystopian vision of Poland divided viewers, however it is hard to imagine the world of "1983" without the protagonist created by Więckiewicz - a policeman tired of life, who in a soulless country tries to save the remnants of humanity.

Robert Więckiewicz was born in Nowa Ruda in 1967. He graduated from the technical high school in Legnica. In 1993, he graduated from the State Higher Theatre School named after Ludwik Solski in Krakow (its Filia in Wrocław). In the years 1993-1998, he was an actor at the Polish Theatre in Poznań, in 1999, he became an actor of the Rozmaitości Theatre in Warsaw. As a theatre actor, he made his debut in 1993 in the adaptation of "Our city" by Thornton Wilder. After 2001, he played, among others in plays directed by Agnieszka Glińska and Krzysztof Materna.

He made his film debut in the early 1990s. Initially, he played episodic roles. In 2003, he played Julek, one of the main characters of the black comedy "Body". A year later, he appeared in the crime comedy "Vinci". In 2007, he played the main roles in the films "Crown Witness" and "Everything will be fine". In the former, he played the title character of a converted gangster, in the latter, he played the role of a PE teacher, Andrzej. For these roles, he received the award for the best leading actor at the Polish Film Festival. In the following years, he played, among others, in such award-winning and nominated for various awards productions as "How Much Does a Trojan Horse Weigh?", "Lejdis", "The Dark House", "Rose" and "Under the Mighty Angel." In 2011, he was cast as Leopold Socha, the main character of Agnieszka Holland’s film “In Darkness”, the film which was nominated for an Oscar in the Foreign Language Film category. In 2013, he played Lech Wałęsa in the film "Wałęsa. Man of Hope" by Andrzej Wajda.
