The Polish Society of Cinematographers awarded the Best Cinematography Award to Łukasz Żal for the film "Cold War".

The Polish Society of Cinematographers awarded the cinematographers for best achievements in their work in 2018.

Janusz Majewski, Lodz Film School graduate, was honoured with the Special Award of the PSC "for artistic achievements, sensitivity to the visual shape of the film, as well as the ability to enchant the various themes and attitude always far from defection". “If there is a paradise for a filmmaker, then it is work on the set with Janusz Majewski " – said Arkadiusz Tomiak handing the award to the moved director. "Actually, you are my work mates, not the directors. I've been working with cinematographers for years, I've never worked with any director " – pointed out the laureate adding that he owed this honour to all the outstanding artists with whom he has worked during his long professional career.

Andrzej J. Jaroszewicz, Lodz Film School graduate, received the PSC Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given to cinematographers with the undeniable contribution to the art of cinematography and shaping visual sensitivity. Andrzej Jaroszewicz, who worked as DOP on such film as „Na srebrnym globie”, „Dekalog 8” and „Najważniejsze to kochać”, was awarded "for mesmerizing film images, steadfast character and delicate sensitivity" and joined the prestigious group of laureates of this award, among whom there are such excellent cinematographers as Jerzy Wójcik, Witold Sobociński, Wiesław Zdort, Bogdan Dziworski, Krzysztof Ptak and Sławomir Idziak. In his speech, the artist recalled the beginnings of the PSC of which he was a co-founder and a long-term chairman as well as a successful fight for the copyrights of cinematographers. "This award is not for what I did, but for the effect of some part of my life. First of all, I would like to thank my wife who has endured it all. We are not easy partners. I was even given such a badge with the inscription "Relax, it's only a movie". That's true, but I think I've often forgotten about it. It probably happens to you, too. This is just cinema, but for us cinema is on the pedestal. "

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the PSC awards for 2018.
The winner in the series episode category was Michał Englert, a graduate of the Film School in Łódź, the cinematographer of the eighth episode of "Ślepnąc od światła" dir. Krzysztof Skonieczny.

The PSC Award for the best cinematography for the documentary film went to a young cinematographer, a student of the Film School in Łódź, Adam Suzin for the film "Over the limit" dir. Marta Prus.

The nominees for the PSC Award for Best Cinematography for the full-length feature film for 2018 were: Jolanta Dylewska for the film „Ajka”, Jakub Kijowski for „Fuga”, Łukasz Gutt for „Kamerdyner”, Tomasz Naumiuk for „Nina” and Łukasz Żal for „Zimna wojna”. The winner was Łukasz Żal, a graduate of the Film School in Łódź. This is his second PSC Award - he received the first one together with Ryszard Lenczewski for the film "Ida". The statuette from the hands of last year's laureate Wojciech Staroń was received by Ernest Wilczyński - camera operator of the film "Cold War" and a long-term collaborator of Łukasz Żal. On behalf of the laureate he read the speech: "The fact that I was lucky to make this film with Paweł Pawlikowski was a reward for me in itself. During this trip, I learned that film making is a process with many corners and no ready solutions. Sometimes on the verge of a catastrophe, but it's the only way to discover something really special. "
